MARS HILL, NC - The Newberry Wolves women's tennis team continued its strong season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Mars Hill 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference action on the road.
Newberry jumped ahead early by claiming the doubles point. The duo of Hazel Vernon and Lina Sarhan delivered a dominant 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Margarita Roshka and Aina Miralles earned the win by default to secure the doubles point for the Wolves. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Renee Dorval and Yui Suzuki was tied 3-3 when play was halted.
The Wolves carried their momentum into singles play, winning three matches in straight sets to clinch the contest.
Lina Sarhan posted an impressive performance at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Margarita Roshka followed at No. 1 singles earning a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
 Aina Miralles sealed the match with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. With the match decided, the remaining singles contests were left unfinished.
The victory improves Newberry to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Wolves will return to action on March 7th against Tusculum University at Oakland Tennis Center.Â
