NEWBERRY, SC – Newberry baseball fell 14–0 to No. 23 Francis Marion Tuesday evening at the Smith Road Complex. The Wolves held the Patriots scoreless through the first four innings before Francis Marion broke the game open with a five-run fifth and added runs in each of the final three frames. Newberry was limited to five hits in the non-conference setback.
Four different Wolves recorded hits in the contest, including Bryson Nuckols, Keillor Osbon, Campbell McCurry, and a pair from Jomar Lugo, while Anthony Plotkin started on the mound and worked four scoreless innings before the bullpen combined to cover the remainder of the game against the nationally ranked Patriots.
The Wolves look towards the weekend when they return to Smith Rd. Complex to face Lenoir-Rhyne in the first game of the SAC series on Friday night.
