Wolves Duo Begins NCAA Tournament Journey Friday Morning

Newberry College wrestlers Ricky Springs and Bo Perkins will begin competition at the NCAA Division 2 Men's Wrestling Championships at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. Friday at 11:00 a.m.

Springs (17-5), a true freshman from Fort Dorchester High School, will face off against Benjamin Aranda of St. Cloud State at 125 pounds.

If Springs win the match he will face seventh seeded Quade Smith of Chadron State (Neb.). 

Perkins (17-6), also in his first year with the Wolves after transferring from King and a Super Region 2 runner-up, will take on Nick Delp of Shippensburg (Pa.) at 165 pounds.

The winner of that match will face eighth seeded Brody Hemauer of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

The quarterfinals and consolation rounds begin Friday at 6:00 p.m. with the semifinals and wrestle backs scheduled for Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. and the finals Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m.
