NEWBERRY, SC- The Newberry College women's basketball team fell to Catawba College, 67–49, in South Atlantic Conference action at Eleazer Arena on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Wolves move to 13–14 overall and 7–14 in SAC play. Catawba used a strong first half to build separation, outscoring Newberry in each of the first three quarters to maintain control throughout the contest.
Newberry was led offensively by Rickell Brown and Marykate Kent, who each finished with 12 points. Kent knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, helping stretch the defense, while Brown attacked the basket and provided energy on both ends of the floor. Leigha Harris added 10 points in double figures, and Jada Brown contributed eight points and five rebounds to pace the Wolves on the glass. Despite competitive stretches in the second half. Newberry also shot 64.3% from the charity stripe.
The Wolves will return to action Saturday Feburary 28th against Lincoln Memorial at 2PM.
