NEWBERRY, SC- The Newberry College Wolves dropped a South Atlantic Conference contest to Catawba College, falling 76-61 on Wednesday night at Eleazer Arena. With the result, Newberry's overall record moves to 10-17 and 6-15 in SAC play.
Newberry got a strong performance from Drake Downs, who paced the Wolves with 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double — the team's standout effort on the evening. Kayzzin McDowell also provided a lift, finishing with 11 points, and Houston Jones chipped in 8 points. Other contributors included Makhi Rivers (7 points) and Drew Robinson (6 points), helping keep Newberry competitive throughout much of the game. The Wolves finished 65.4 % at the stripe.
Newberry returns to action on Saturday, February 28, traveling to face Lincoln Memorial at 4 p.m.
