Wolves Run Winning Streak to Six Games With Doubleheader Sweep Over UVA Wise

Wolves starting pitchers Jacob Clark and Nick Riedel combined to allow only two earned runs over 10.1 innings to spark the Wolves to a 15-2 and 9-1 sweep in a pair of seven inning games over UVA Wise in South Atlantic Conference play at Smith Road Complex.

The Wolves exploded for 15 runs over a four-inning span in game one and scored five runs in the third and four in the sixth to spark the second game victory.

Luke Compton had five hits, drove in eight runs, had a double and a triple, three stolen bases and scored two runs.  Jomar Lugo added three hits, scored four runs and drove in four runs and Cooper Raines scored six runs with three hits and three stolen bases.

Clark improved to 2-1 on the season by pitching five innings and allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out five and walking just one to earn the victory in game one.

In the nightcap Riedel pitched 5.1 innings allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out eight and walking three.  He now has struck out 24 in 21.1 innings so far this season.

The 5-0 start in South Atlantic Conference play is the best league start for the Wolves since a 6-0 start in 2022.

The six-game winning streak is the best for the Wolves since a 10-game winning streak in 2024.

The Wolves go for the three-game sweep Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
