Wolves Dominate Mount Olive in 15-9 Victory

NEWBERRY, S.C. — The Newberry College men's lacrosse team picked up a dominant 15-9 victory over the University of Mount Olive on Saturday at Setzler Field, fueled by a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive play. The Wolves jumped out early and never trailed, taking control in the first quarter and maintaining pressure throughout the game.

Newberry's offense was led by Liam Vollans and Scott Williams, who each scored three goals, while Ian JacksonBradley DavidMason Carfello, and Gage Vigar added two goals apiece. Nick Del Grosso contributed a goal as well, giving Newberry seven different scorers in the contest. Vollans also dished out four assists, Bradley David had three assists, and the team tallied a total of 11 assists on 15 goals, highlighting the Wolves' unselfish and well-distributed attack.

In addition to their scoring, Newberry excelled in transition and defensive intensity. The team collected 34 ground ballsand recorded 11 caused turnovers, creating extra possessions and generating scoring opportunities in fast-break situations. Key contributors on the defensive end included Ryan Morrison with three ground balls and three caused turnovers and Houston Horton who won 16 of 21 faceoffs, helping the Wolves control possession throughout the game. Newberry also capitalized on man-up opportunities, going 6-for-6 on extra-man chances.

The Wolves will be on the road February 20th as they face the University of Indianapolis at 4PM.
