HICKORY, NC- The Newberry College women's basketball team showed strong effort and several positive performances on the road against South Atlantic Conference matchup Lenoir-Rhyne on January 7 in Hickory, N.C., despite an 86–51 final score.
Individually,
Jada Brown led the Wolves (9-4,3-4 SAC) with 12 points and eight rebounds, anchoring Newberry's interior presence on both ends of the floor.
Rickell Brown followed with 10 points in a solid all-around performance, while
Marykate Kent added nine points and connected on Newberry's lone three-pointer.
Leigha Harris provided an efficient spark off the bench with six points on 3-of-5 shooting.
The Wolves were efficient at the free-throw line, knocking down 9-of-10 attempts (90 percent), and played aggressively in the paint with 32 points inside. Newberry also created extra possessions by pulling down 15 offensive rebounds, finishing the night with 27 total boards, while the bench contributed 17 points to provide valuable depth. Saturday, January 10 at 2 p.m. to host
Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference action.
