HICKORY, NC- The Newberry men's basketball team competed in a tightly contested South Atlantic Conference matchup at Lenoir-Rhyne, as the game featured
seven lead changes and four ties throughout the contest before falling 95-69. The Wolves (6-7, 2-5 SAC) matched the Bears early and often, trading baskets and responding to momentum shifts while displaying poise and offensive balance during key stretches of play.
Offensively, Newberry was led by
Drake Downs and
Drew Robinson, who each recorded
16 points to pace the Wolves. Both players provided consistent scoring from multiple areas of the floor, helping Newberry remain within striking distance as the lead changed hands several times. The Wolves also received solid contributions from additional scorers Makhi Rivera &
Houston Jones who finished with
nine points, reinforcing a balanced offensive effort against one of the conference's top teams.
Newberry returns to Eleazer Arena on Saturday, January 10 at 4:00 p.m. to host Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference action.
