MILL SPRING, NC - The Newberry College men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong weekend of competition at the Tryon Banked meet, highlighted by multiple top-20 finishes, two school records, and several personal best performances against a deep field.
Women's Highlights
Sophomore Olive Hare delivered a standout performance in the mile, clocking a time of 5:28.33 to break the school record and set a new program standard in the event. Hare also anchored the women's 4,000m distance medley relay, teaming with Kayleigh Geel, Nia Quimby, and Gaby Darazi to place sixth overall with a time of 14:17.31, a mark that ranks 43 in Division II this season.
In the sprints, Nia Quimby recorded a personal best of 45.44 in the 300 meters, while freshman Tatiyana Prawl followed closely with a 47.56 showing. Madalynn Williams added solid performances in both the 300 meters (29.32) and 60 meters, continuing to gain valuable experience early in her collegiate career.
The Wolves' middle distance group saw Brittany Montgomery run 1:06.76 in the 400 meters, while Gaby Darazi competed in the 800 meters. In the field, Meah Jackson cleared 1.53m in the high jump to place inside the top 15, and freshman Kylynn Boyd recorded a personal-best 10.59m in the shot put.
Newberry also posted a fifth place finish in the women's 4x400 relay, as Bryanna Thompson, Cassidy Bouchard, Brittany Montgomery, and Kamryn Adderton combined for a time of 4:09.57.
Men's Highlights
Dwayne Weiters highlighted the men's field events by breaking his own school record in the triple jump, posting a leap of 14.88m to place fifth overall and ranked 13th nationally in Division II.
In the hurdles, junior Addison O'Cain ran a personal best 8.39 in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing sixth among the top competitors in a deep field. On the track, Tyler Shumate led the Wolves in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.51, while Jordan Kent followed with a 2:02.59 performance.
Distance runners Braylon Reier, Camden Longdon, Jonah Wendland, and Nehemiah Smith all placed inside the top 25 in the 3,000 meters, with Reier pacing the group at 9:58.36. In the high jump, Nigel Landrum cleared 1.88m  to secure a 17th place finish.
The Wolves' 4x400 relay squad of John Shivers, Tavarian Thompson, Nehemiah Smith, and Landon Tucker placed fourth overall with a time of 3:25.20, closing out the meet on a strong note.
The Wolves will hit the road again on February 6th to compete at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA.
