WISE, VA – The Newberry College volleyball team put up a fight in its second South Atlantic Conference contest but came up short against UVA Wise, falling 3-1 (25-21, 26-28, 25-17, 30-28) on Friday evening at the David J. Prior Convocation Center.

Anna Schneider led the Wolves with a match-high 25 kills while hitting .304, also adding eight digs and two blocks. Annie Dill controlled the offense with 32 assists and 11 digs, while Madison Watson added in six kills and three block assists. Despite the loss, the Wolves showed resilience by rallying to take the second set in extra points and pushing the fourth set deep before the Cavaliers were able to close out the match.

Defensively, Newberry recorded 72 digs as a team, highlighted by Dill's double-double and steady back-row play from Hailey Clayworth (eight digs, two aces) and Gabi Garabedian (nine digs). The Wolves also tallied eight total blocks, led by Watson and Gabby Warren.

With the result, Newberry moves to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in SAC play. The Wolves will look to bounce back quickly and build on the positives of this contest as they continue conference action at home on Sept. 26th at 6pm vs. Emory & Henry.
