NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry College volleyball team delivered a dominant performance in its home debut, sweeping Emory & Henry 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-10) on Friday evening at Eleazer Arena.
The Wolves controlled the match from start to finish, hitting .245 as a team while racking up 41 kills and nine service aces. Samantha Shaffer led the way with 10 kills on a .292 hitting percentage and added three blocks. Madison Watson chipped in seven kills at .333, while Anna Schneider posted seven kills, three aces, and 11 digs.
Setter Annie Dill guided the offense with 19 assists and 11 digs for a double-double, while Giovanna Ravanhani added 14 assists and two aces. Defensively, libero Hailey Clayworth paced the back row with 13 digs and three service aces, helping Newberry out-dig the Wasps 53-36 .
With the victory, the Wolves improve to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in South Atlantic Conference play, bouncing back in style and energizing the home crowd with a strong win. The Wolves return home in their next match vs. Mars Hill on October 3rd at 6pm.
