NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry Wolves delivered a dramatic walk-off victory in the bottom of the 10th inning, defeating Coker 5-4 in a thrilling extra-inning contest.

The Wolves started strong, adding three unanswered runs by the sixth inning. Wilson Wages got the scoring started with an RBI single to score Kade Faircloth and Cooper Gentry reached on a fielder's choice RBI. Gentry batted in another Wolves run in the sixth, scoring Wages.

In the bottom of the 10th, with Faircloth in scoring position after his leadoff triple, Parker Mergo stepped up and laced a clutch base hit to drive in the tying run. Wages continued his great day, scoring Mergo on a single up the middle, sending the Wolves and their fans into celebration.

Chansen Cole started for the Wolves, pitching 7.2 strong innings, only letting up five hits and one run, along with four strikeouts. Wyatt Carey (W, 3-0) earned the win for the Wolves pitching 1.2 clutch innings to keep the Cobras at bay.  

With this win, Newberry continues to build momentum heading into their Saturday doubleheader vs. the Cobras. The first game will begin at 1pm with the second following after at 4pm.
