NEWBERRY, SC - The Newberry Wolves men's lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance on their home turf, overwhelming Young Harris 17-5.
Newberry (3-2) came out firing, scoring eight unanswered goals in the first quarter, setting the tone for a dominant victory. Gage Vigar led the offensive charge with four goals and an assist, while Liam Vollans contributed a hat trick. Shane Halliwell was the catalyst for the Wolves' attack, dishing out five assists to go along with his two goals.
The Wolves displayed their offensive depth, with 10 different players finding the back of the net. Scott Williams (2), Carson Andrews, Matthew Duarte, Jonny Maclean, Bailey Phillips, Adam Christenberry, and Judah Kennedy all contributed to the scoring.
Newberry's defense was just as imposing, forcing 19 turnovers and collecting 39 ground balls to Young Harris' 18. The Wolves controlled possession throughout the game, winning 16 of 26 faceoffs and going a perfect 32-for-32 on clears.
The Wolves will be on the road next on March 8th, traveling to Greeneville TN to face off against Tusculum University.Â
