#19 Newberry Dominates Tusculum in 20-6 Road Victory

GREENEVILLE, TN - The Newberry Wolves men's lacrosse team (4-2, 1-0 SAC) opened South Atlantic Conference play in dominant fashion, cruising to a 20-6 victory over the Tusculum Pioneers (3-4, 0-2 SAC) on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

The Wolves wasted no time asserting themselves, jumping out to a commanding 9-1 lead in the first quarter. Ayden Snow started the scoring at the 12:08 mark, and the Wolves never looked back. Shane Halliwell and Liam Vollans each recorded hat tricks, while Gage Vigar facilitated the attack with six assists.

The Wolves' offensive depth was on full display as 13 different players found the back of the net. Ace Nichols and Vigar each notched two goals, while Hudson Chivers, Andrew Marks, Colby Peterson, Matthew Duarte, Nathan Pouliot, Jack Bucknell, Fraser Berrett, and Scott Williams all contributed one apiece.

Newberry's defense and goalkeeping were equally impressive, limiting the Pioneers to just six goals while forcing 24 turnovers. Nolan Downey anchored the effort in net with 10 saves in 45 minutes before Tyler LeBlanc closed out the final quarter with four saves.

Tusculum managed a late push, scoring twice in the final quarter, but Newberry's early lead proved insurmountable. The Wolves outshot the Pioneers 52-30 and dominated the faceoff battle, winning 17 of 28 draws.

With the victory, Newberry improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in SAC play. The Wolves return to action this Wednesday to go up against Embry-Riddle at 3PM in Savannah, GA.
