Newberry Falls to Coker on the Road

HARTSVILLE, SC -- Newberry put up a fight on the road but fell to Coker 84-44 after a dominant second half by the Cobras. Despite a strong second quarter, the Wolves struggled to keep the pace on offense as Coker pulled away late. Julia Paoletta and Jess Tomkins were the top contributors for Newberry.

The Wolves led 30-26 at halftime, fueled by six made three-pointers in the first half.

Paoletta led the Wolves in scoring with 12 points, shooting an efficient 5-of-6 from the field and knocking down two three-pointers.

Tomkins filled the stat sheet with 12 points, five rebounds, and a team-high five assists.

The Wolves recorded two blocks and three steals, with Shemaiyah Earle and Hannah Nimmo contributing on the defensive end.

Coker, one of the top teams in the SAC (now 23-3 overall), broke open in the second half, outscoring Newberry 58-14 over the final two quarters.

The Wolves got 18 points from their bench, with Caylin Moment leading the way with 8 points.

The Wolves will get back on the court this weekend (February 22nd) in a home match vs. Tusculum University at 2pm in Eleazer Arena.
