NEWBERRY,SC- Newberry junior Madison Gutierrez has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office. This marks her second time receiving this honor this season.. 

Gutierrez, a junior from Buckeye, Ariz., was a defensive standout for the Wolves this week, recording 17 saves across two matches, including an 11-save shutout against No. 3 Catawba. The senior goalkeeper faced 33 total shots and 14 on goal in the draw, keeping the nationally ranked Catawba Indians scoreless for 90 minutes.
