NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry College women's basketball team kept its early-season momentum rolling on Thursday night, powering past Toccoa Falls 85–43 inside Eleazer Arena to improve to 4–0 on the year.
Newberry controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to an 18–3 lead in the first quarter behind active defense and an efficient transition attack. The Wolves forced 31 turnovers, converting them into 30 points, and never allowed the Screaming Eagles to find a rhythm offensively.
The Wolves broke the game open in the second quarter with a 22-point frame, highlighted by strong interior play and balanced scoring across the lineup. By halftime, Newberry led 40–22 and showed no signs of slowing down. The third quarter was Newberry's most dominant stretch, pouring in 29 points while holding Toccoa Falls to just 13. The Wolves shot 52% in the period and continued to apply defensive pressure that generated easy baskets.
Rickell Brown led the Wolves with another strong outing, finishing with 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals, impacting the game on both ends. Marykate Kent added 14 points with four made threes, while Destiny Mattison controlled the paint with 13 rebounds, 6 points, and a block. In total, Newberry saw 12 players score, showcasing the team's depth as the bench contributed 37 points. The Wolves also dominated the interior, winning the rebounding battle 44–39 and posting 40 points in the paint.
With the victory, Newberry improves to 4–0 and continues its hot start to the season. The Wolves return to action on November 29th at home, hosting Livingstone College at 2 p.m. inside Eleazer Arena.
