Drew Robinson Sparks Wolves in 66–59 Victory

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry men's basketball remained unbeaten on the young season, grinding out a 66–59 home victory over Belmont Abbey on Wednesday night inside Eleazer Arena. With the win, the Wolves move to 3–0, marking the first time Newberry has started 3–0 since the 2008–09 season, a historic benchmark for the program.

Newberry set the tone early, jumping out to a 35–27 halftime lead thanks to efficient ball movement, timely three-point shooting, and a defensive energy that forced the Crusaders into seven first-half turnovers. The Wolves knocked down four threes in the opening 20 minutes and held Belmont Abbey to 30 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Drew Robinson led the way with 19 points, four three-pointers, seven rebounds, and three steals, controlling the tempo and delivering timely buckets whenever Belmont Abbey threatened. Drake Downs added 15 points and eight rebounds, providing toughness around the rim and energy in transition. Kayzzin McDowell poured in 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from deep, while Houston Jones contributed eight points, including a crucial stretch of free throws.

Defensively, the Wolves were sharp, collecting seven steals, forcing 14 Crusader turnovers, and winning the rebounding battle 36–35. Newberry also capitalized with 20 points in the paint and 11 second-chance points, maintaining control throughout the night.

Belmont Abbey pushed late in the second half, trimming the lead to single digits, but Newberry's poise and defensive stops secured the victory to keep the undefeated momentum alive. Newberry returns to Eleazer Arena on Friday, November 22nd, hosting USC Aiken at 6 p.m.
