NEWBERRY, S.C. – With high-energy runs, standout efforts off the bench, and strong moments on both ends of the floor, Newberry men's basketball kept the crowd involved throughout a competitive matchup that ultimately ended 94–69 in favor of USC Aiken.
Newberry opened the game competing with pace and confidence, attacking the paint early and showing active hands defensively. Brett Dent set the tone inside, grabbing multiple offensive rebounds on a single possession before powering in the Wolves' first points of the night. Drake Downs followed with a steal and transition layup, giving Newberry an early spark and bringing the crowd to life.
The Wolves' bench was one of the biggest positives of the night, contributing 37 total points. Matty Foor led that charge with a breakout performance, scoring 16 points on efficient shooting—including back-to-back threes that ignited a 9–0 run late in the first half. Davionta Moses added a smooth eight points and hit a momentum-shifting three that helped Newberry trim the deficit.
Defensively, the Wolves forced nine steals, with Downs, Dent, and the backcourt rotating well to disrupt passing lanes. Downs also finished with 14 points and four rebounds, battling consistently at the rim and initiating transition chances.
Drew Robinson showed strong floor leadership throughout the night, dishing out five assists and facilitating Newberry's best offensive stretches. His second-half three from the left wing was a bright moment that brought Newberry within striking distance during a surge of momentum. Makhi Rivers (10 points) attacked the lane with purpose, finishing several tough baskets around the rim, while Houston Jones added timely shooting—including a late three that capped a solid possession for the Wolves.
Though USC Aiken's shooting runs proved difficult to overcome, Newberry continued to compete through the final buzzer, showing resilience, depth, and flashes of the high-tempo, playmaking style that has fueled their strong start to the season. This brings the Wolves' record to 3–1.
The Wolves continue their homestand on November 25 at 2 p.m against Tusculum.
