SALISBURY, NC – The Newberry College volleyball team fought across three competitive sets but ultimately fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-21) to Catawba College on Tuesday night at Goodman Gymnasium. With the result, the Wolves move to 8-8 overall and 3-6 in South Atlantic Conference play.

Carole Ann Hussey led Newberry offensively with 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage, finishing with a team-high 12.5 points. Evie Paalman added five kills, while Samantha Shaffer and Madison Watson each chipped in four and two kills.

Merryck Brackett and Annie Dill shared setting duties, combining for 20 assists on the night, while Kate Gross contributed defensively with seven digs and two service aces. Hailey Clayworth and ZaKhia Davenport also added steady play in the back row for the Wolves.

The Wolves will return to SAC play on Friday vs. Tusculum in Greeneville, TN at 7pm.
