GREENEVILLE, TN – The Wolves showed resilience and late composure on the road Friday night, battling past Tusculum for a 3-2 victory (14–25, 25–21, 26–24, 24–26, 15–13) at Pioneer Arena. With the win, the Wolves improve to 9-8 overall and 4-6 in SAC play.
After dropping the opening set, Newberry bounced back with strong offensive play through the middle frames. Carole Ann Hussey powered the offense with a team-high 18 kills and four blocks, while Samantha Shaffer delivered a clutch performance at the net, finishing with 15 kills and two blocks. Anna Schneider added another well-rounded outing with 13 kills and 19 digs, contributing in both sides of the ball.
The Wolves received outstanding play from their setters. Annie Dill dished out 30 assists while Giovanna Ravanhani added 25, keeping the offense moving. Defensively, Hailey Clayworth anchored the back row with 18 digs, helping Newberry secure long rallies in a tightly contested match.
Newberry began the fifth set with a 7-0 run, then later sealing the win. The Wolves totaled 66 kills and 83 digs as a team. The Wolves will face off against Lincoln Memorial on the road in their next match on Saturday at 2pm.
