AIKEN, SC – The Newberry College volleyball team battled throughout the evening but fell 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19) to USC Aiken on Tuesday at the Convocation Center.
The Wolves (8-7) were led by Anna Schneider, who recorded 13 kills, eight digs, and one ace to pace the offense. Samantha Shaffer followed with 10 kills and a .276 hitting percentage, while Madison Watson contributed seven kills and three total blocks, including two solo.
Setter Merryck Brackett distributed 16 assists and 10 digs, and Annie Dill added 22 assists and four digs in a two-setter rotation. Defensively, Hailey Clayworth held the back line with 27 digs.
Newberry hit .132 as a team, finishing with 44 kills, 80 digs, and five service aces.
The Wolves move to 8-7 overall and will return to conference play in their next match vs. Catawba on the road Tuesday at 6pm.
