Wolves' Comeback Effort Falls Just Short Against Carson-Newman

In a nail-biting matchup, Newberry's spirited comeback came up just short as they fell 83-82 to Carson-Newman.

Newberry (6-7, 3-6 SAC) showed resilience throughout, particularly in the second half, where they outscored Carson-Newman (11-6, 6-5 SAC) 45-42. Despite shooting just 38.7% from the field, Newberry made their mark defensively with six steals and four blocks, forcing 11 turnovers while only committing four themselves.
 
Malakhi Stremlow led the Wolves with a standout performance, recording a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, complemented by two steals and a block. James Lovorn added firepower from beyond the arc, hitting six three-pointers on his way to 18 points. Makhi Rivers and Devario Sheppard also contributed with 15 and 16 points, respectively.

Carson-Newman showcased efficient shooting, finishing at 50.8% from the field and an impressive 53.8% from three-point range. The game was a tale of surging leads and pivotal plays, with the Eagles holding a significant 15-point lead in the second half. Newberry clawed back to make it a one-possession game in the closing seconds, but the Eagles' composure at key moments sealed the narrow victory.
