NEWBERRY, SC – Newberry College Volleyball falls 3-0 in SAC matchup vs. Coker University.

 

OVERVIEW: NEWBERRY VS COKER

SCORE: Newberry Wolves 0, Coker Cobras 3 (26-24, 25-14, 25-12)

RECORDS: Newberry (2-4). Coker (3-5)

LOCATION: Eleazar Arena – Newberry, SC

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Set one opened up with a kill from Emma Christensen, assisted by Katy Morrison.

  • Coker pushed up the score and took a 7-2 lead after a service ace.

  • Newberry managed to climb back and tie the game at ten a piece.

  • The Wolves took off, scoring five straight, to take a 16-14 lead after back to back attacking errors from Coker

  • Newberry held a 19-15 lead when Coker went on an 11-5 run closing set one in overtime with a score of 26-24.

  • Set two started off with both team tied at 6-6 after a kill from Newberry's Samantha Shaffer, assisted by Giovanna Ravanhani

  • Coker doubled their scoreboard after this leading the Wolves 12-7.

  • Newberry tried to claw back, but was losing ground on the Cobras 18-11 lead.

  • The Cobras were able to close out set two 25-14 giving the Wolves no room for a comeback.

  • Coker came out swinging once again in set three, taking a 12-4 lead.

  • The Cobras stepped on the gas after this point leading the Wolves 18-7 late in the set.

  • The Wolves scored three straight after kills from Carole Ann Hussey and Anna Schneider.

  • It wasn't enough to bring back momentum though, as the Cobras added their final points to the tally, ending set three 25-12.
