Women’s Tennis Lands the Seven Seed in the Southeast Region.

NEWBERRY – The Newberry College women's tennis team received the no. 7 seed in the Southeast Region this evening, when the NCAA released its 48–team division II bracket.
 
This marks the second time in program history that the women's tennis program has made the NCAA tournament and the first time since 2022 where the team went to the region semifinals.


The Wolves (13-7, 7-5 SAC) will head to St. Augustine to take on the host and the two seeded Saints of Flagler College (14-5, 5-1 PBC). The winner will take on the winner of two South Atlantic Conference foes in the three seeded Bulldogs of Wingate University (19-2, 12-0 SAC), and the six seeded Indians of Catawba College (16-6, 8-4 SAC).
 
The winner of the four team bracket will take on the Dahlonega region, where the number one seeded Nighthawks of North Georgia (22-1, 5-1 PBC) will get the winner of the four seeded Cougars of Columbus State (14-7, 5-1 PBC) and the Flying Fleet of Erskine College (19-3, 8-1 CC).
 
The two region winners will face off in the round of 16 in the Championship Finals played May 20-24 in Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
