NEWBERRY, S.C. - Women's tennis earns their fifth sweep of the season this evening against UVA Wise, 7-0.
Doubles was the perfect start to the day as all three duos came out unscathed. Court three featuring
Sofia Cardenas and
Aina Miralles bounced back after their loss last week with a perfect 6-0 set.
Emma Arnal and
Margarita Nikonorova almost came out blemish free, as they defeated their opponents 6-1. Court one featuring
Ish Singh and
Rosie Harfield had the most excitement out of the bunch. Tying 6-6, the duos played a tie breaker to seven in which Harfield and Singh did not let their opponent get a single point, winning the match 7-6.
For most Wolves, singles was just as easy doubles. Two courts saw their opponents score one point on them in two sets. Arnal and Miralles both came out with the second best performances on the day, winning their first sets 6-0 then their second 6-1. The best match came from Harfield on court six who blew her competition away with an 8-0 match. Cardenas started her first set off with a 6-1 win, then finished the job 6-2. Singh felt some push back against the Cavalier but stood tall. Taking the first set 6-3, Singh recovered some time and took the second set 6-2. The tightest set came on court three with Nikonorova. Playing constant back and fourth, Margarita took the first set 6-4. With her opponent not letting up, Nikonorova took the second set with another 6-4 play.
The Wolves will celebrate their seniors on Wednesday April 10 before their match against Coker.
