Preview: Men's Lacrosse Set to Host Anderson in SAC Quarterfinals

NEWBERRY – Reaching the South Atlantic Conference tournament for the third year in a row, the Newberry College men's lacrosse team plays host to Anderson tonight at Setzler Field in the quarterfinal round. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00.

Fans can buy single-game tickets for $8 at the gate, or purchase a $12 pass to receive admission to both the men's and women's games – the Newberry women's lacrosse team hosts UVA Wise at 4 p.m.

Youth ages 5-12, seniors 60+ and active/retired military are $5 for a single game or $8 for two games. College student tickets – with an ID – are $2, and children under 5 are free.

Alternatively, fans can watch the game on FloSports and follow along with live stats.

Scouting the Wolves:
•    Newberry (11-3, 6-3 SAC), the 4-seed in the tournament, finished the regular season with a win over these same Trojans on Wednesday night, 14-12 on the road.
•    Scott Reed continued his record-setting season with his fifth six-goal game of the season – in addition to a pair of seven-goal efforts – to end the regular season with 66 goals and 87 points, both atop Division II.
•    Zach Thompson and Miles Jones each had a pair of goals in the win; Thompson also had one assist.
•    Ethan Canning, Jonny MacLean, Mac Ryan and Baker Westmoreland all netted one goal.
•    The Wolves now own a 4-0 record over Anderson dating back to 2021.

Scouting the Trojans:
•    No. 5 seed Anderson (7-8, 5-4 SAC) finished the regular season losing three of its final five games.
•    AU's three recent losses were to No. 1 Limestone (19-12), No. 6 Wingate (11-5) and the No. 10 Wolves Wednesday night, 14-12. The two wins were over Catawba (21-10) and Mars Hill (17-6), both on the road.
•    Against Newberry, the Trojans were led by Ryan Bitterman's four goals.
•    Tristan Kirkham, Matthew Rodgers and PJ Fenchak all scored twice.
•    Logan Gaddis, who had three assists, leads the team with 46 points (20 goals, 26 assists). Kirkham leads the Trojans with 34 goals.
