ANDERSON, S.C. - Women's lacrosse suffers a loss in their final game of the regular season to Anderson, 6-13. With the loss, Newberry stays at number four in the conference rankings and will host the first round of playoffs against number five, UVA Wise.
Topping off the final game of the season, the Wolves were led in scoring by
Serena Elias and
Ella Todd. Both Wolves finished off the day with two goals.Â
Todd finished off the night with the most points by adding an assist to her name, putting her at three.
Cassell Richardson and
Trysten Burns also tallied one assist.
The two remaining Wolves to find a goal were
Hanna Bond and
Lana Howell who both tallied one.
On the defensive front, four Wolves caused a turnover against a stout Trojan offense.
Madalyn Messersmith,
Kaitlyn Mason,
Jenny Bates and
Marissa Plumer all caused one turnover. Messersmith also led the Wolves in ground balls, scooping two. Plumer held it down for the Wolves for draw controls, claiming a team high three.
The Wolves will host UVA Wise on Saturday at 4 P.M. in the first round of the SAC tournament.
