FLORENCE, S.C. – The Newberry College baseball team (21-22, 15-9 SAC) fell to the tenth ranked Trojans of Mount Olive (30-11, 17-6 CC) by a 13-11 final score this afternoon at CarolinaBank Field in Florence.

Donovan Ford both had multiple hits this afternoon for the Wolves. Senior outfielder
Jacob LeBron drove in five runs for the Wolves.
The Wolves got off to a hot start as Gibson hit a double over the right fielder's head in the top of the first to put the Wolves on the board. On the next at-bat,
Kade Faircloth would drive in two runs with a single up the middle to make it 3-0.
The Trojans would answer with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Wolves added on a run in the second with a sacrifice fly to extend the Wolves lead to 4-2.
The Trojans would tie the game back up at four in the bottom of the second before scoring three in the bottom of the third to take a 7-4 lead.
The Wolves would tie the game back up in the top of the fourth with a rbi infield single from LeBron to score Ford making it 7-5. Gibson would triple in LeBron and
Luke Compton two batters later to tie it at seven.
The Trojans would score two three run home runs from their catcher Kermode in the fifth and seventh innings to make it 13-7.
In the top of the eighth the Wolves would score four runs with a first career home run from
Josh Watson to make it 13-8. LeBron would drive in three runs with an error from the first baseman to make it 13-11.
The Wolves would threaten to tie the game in the top of the ninth but the Trojans would hold on to win 13-11.
