PREVIEW: Wolves To End Their Season Against No. 42 Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, TN - Men's tennis (4-13, 3-8 SAC) takes off today for Tennessee where they'll wrap up the 2023-24 season against #42 ranked Eagles (10-5, 8-2 SAC). The match will begin at 12 P.M.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
  • With their loss on Wednesday against Coker, the Wolves are officially out of the playoff race.
  • Newberry has been neck and neck against core SAC opponents that can lead to an upset on Saturday.
    • In the Wolves 3-4 losses against Tusculum, UVA Wise and Coker, the match has always come down to a three set play in singles.
  • David Negzaoui and Joshua Fritz have been red hot the past two matches in singles. The Wolves will need to rely on them to set the tone in doubles and roll over the momentum into singles.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • For the second straight week, the Eagles have a defeated a ranked opponent.
    • #29 Tusculum and #41 LMU
  • Carson-Newman reaches their highest national rank of the season and sit at third in the conference, two matches behind Catawba at two.
  • The Eagles #1 court player, Marnix Van Dalen, is on a six match win streak.
    • Van Dalen is one of two players to find a win against Wingate.
