INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championship brackets were announced this afternoon. Five Newberry College wrestlers will be battling for a chance at winning a national championship starting next Friday in Wichita, Kan.
 
Zach Shupp, Devan Moore, Andrew Reed, John Parker, and Devon Rice will be the five wrestlers rocking the Newberry singlets in the tournaments next week.

At 125 pounds, Zach Shupp returns to the NCAA bracket for the second year in a row. Shupp will be facing off against the six seed in Zachary Ourada out of Nebraska-Kearney in the first round. Shupp posts a 20-7 overall record in the season while Ourada has a 19-5 record. The two haven't faced off against each other.

At 149 pounds, 2023 all-American Devan Moore will return to nationals for the second straight year.  Moore will be facing the three seed in Grand Valley State's Chris Donathan. Moore is 19-6 on the season and the two have not faced each other in their careers.

Andrew Reed will represent the scarlet and grey in Wichita for the first time in his career. Reed will face the three seeded Cole Hernandez out of Western Colorado University. Reed holds a 24-8 record while Hernandez holds a 30-2 overall record.

Super Region II champion John Parker will partake in the NCAA championship for the first time in his career. Parker will be placed in the preliminary round as he faces off against Colorado Mesa's Gabe Carranza. Parker holds a 27-5 record on the year while Carranza holds a 25-7 mark.

Devon Rice has qualified for the NCAA championships for the first time in his career. Rice will face off against McKendree's Tyler Haines in a preliminary round. Rice is 29-6 on the season, while his opponent is 15-7.
