Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry (5-0, 1-0 SAC) won last Saturday's conference opener over Tusculum, 27-5.
• The 27 goals set the record for most goals in a game in program history, as did the 44 points tallied by the Wolves and the 22-goal margin of victory.
•
Scott Reed had seven of those goals – the second time this season he's registered as many. Reed's 35 points in 2024 leads the conference and is tied for sixth in Division II.
•
Connor Bates, this week's SAC Specialist Player of the Week, won 16 of 17 faceoffs and grabbed 12 ground balls. Bates was also named to the USILA DII Team of the Week for his performance versus the Pioneers.
• The Wolves' high-powered offense continues to make the most of their man-up opportunities with 21 goals on 21 chances to lead DII in the category. They're fifth in goals scored for the season (104) and third with 177 points.
Scouting the Greyhounds:
• Indianapolis (6-1) has won four in a row, its most recent a 10-9 home overtime victory over No. 11 Seton Hill last Saturday.
• Four Greyhounds scored two goals apiece versus the Griffins: Sam Puzevic, Nick Randgaard, Triston Schaffer and Justin Williams.
• Schaffer leads UIndy with 15 goals this season and Owain Braddock is second on the team with 13.
• UIndy has played two other ranked teams aside from Seton Hill, losing on the road to No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne 14-7 on Feb. 11, and beating then-No. 13 Mercyhurst 8-7 at home on Feb. 17.
