Triplett Gets Win 400 as Wolves Beat the Pacers 13-8

AIKEN, S.C. – Newberry College baseball head coach Russell Triplett reached the 400 mark in career wins as the Wolves defeated the Pacers of USC Aiken 13-8 Wednesday Evening at the Roberto Hernandez Stadium in Aiken.
 
Sophomore Brody Winter went 3-4 with three RBIs as the designated hitter in the two spot for the Wolves this evening. Senior right hander Rylan Brown pitched two innings and struck out a Pacer to earn the win.  
 
The Wolves got a quick run on the board in the top of the first as Donovan Ford would lead off with a double and then would score on a successful hit and run with Winter's rbi single to gain a 1-0 lead.
 
After the Pacers would tie the game up at 1-1, the Wolves would go on a tear starting with a sacrifice fly from Ford to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the second.
 
In the next inning the Wolves would tack on three more runs off of a RBI fielder's choice from Bryson Nuckols followed by a run off a Wild Pitch and a failed pick off attempt to increase the Wolves lead to 5-2.
 
After USC Aiken would add a run to cut their deficit to 5-2, the Wolves would add two more runs in the top of the fourth with a RBI fielder's choice from Henry Gibson followed by an RBI double from Rhett Jolly to make it 7-2.
 
The Wolves would continue to add to their lead in the top of the fifth with three more runs starting with an RBI single from Ford to make it 9-2. Three at-bats later, the Wolves would add an successful double steal as Jacob LeBron would take second and Winter would steal home on the throw to second to make it 10-2. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Jolly would get hit by a pitch to bring in the 11th run of the evening making it 11-2.
 
The Wolves would get their final two runs from an RBI single from Luke Compton to take a 13-2 lead in the top of the sixth.
 
The Pacers would add six runs in a comeback attempt that fell short giving the Wolves an 13-8.

The Wolves travel to Anderson for a weekend series with the Trojans on Friday and Saturday. The first pitch on Friday is scheduled at 6:00 p.m.
