NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team (7-16,3-6 SAC) fell at home to the visiting Bobcats of Georgia College (13-10, 4-2 PBC) 9-7 Tuesday evening at the Smith Rd. Complex.

Henry Gibson drove in four runs on the evening for the Wolves. Junior outfielder
Donovan Ford jumped into third place in the all-time career stolen base list as he stole third in the bottom of the fourth inning.
After giving up a run in the top of the first, the Wolves would answer with three runs in the bottom half starting with an RBI single from
Kade Faircloth to make it 1-1. On the next at-bat, Gibson would hit a single up the middle that would score two and give the Wolves a 3-1 lead.
The Bobcats would score a run in the second and the third to tie it back up at 3-3 before Faircloth would get his second rbi on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3.
The Bobcats would regain the lead with a three-run top of the fourth to make it 6-4. In the bottom half of the fourth, Ford would rip a double down the left field line to cut their deficit to 6-5.
The Bobcats would score two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to increase their lead to 8-5. The Wolves would fight back by adding two runs in the bottom half on a Gibson sacrifice bunt that would score two runs to make it 8-7.
The Bobcats would score an extra run in the top of the eighth to extend the lead to 9-7 and hold on to get a win.
