NEWBERRY – With four consecutive wins to start the campaign for the second year in a row, the Newberry College men's lacrosse team is in search of a 5-0 start as they welcome Tusculum to Setzler Field tomorrow (March 2). Faceoff for the Wolves' first South Atlantic Conference game of 2024 is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry (4-0) won last weekend's home opener over Belmont Abbey, 18-8.
•
Baker Westmoreland scored a career-high six goals in the win and picked up a ground ball.
• For his efforts last week, Westmoreland was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week and was also selected to USILAs Division II Team of the Week.
• Joining him with honors was
Jack Travassos, the SAC Defensive Player of the Week. Travassos caused two turnovers against the Crusaders and picked up three ground balls.

Curtis Bukta led Newberry with seven points against Belmont Abbey on three goals and four assists.
Scott Reed also recorded three goals for the Wolves.
• Newberry currently leads DII in man-up conversion rate (.947) with 18 goals on 19 attempts.
Scouting the Pioneers:
• Tusculum (0-4, 0-1 SAC) lost at Catawba last Saturday, 18-5.
• Their other losses came against Young Harris at home (14-13), Alabama Huntsville on the road (18-9) and at then-No. 20 Montevallo (26-8).
• Clay Mendez scored three goals versus the Indians to lead TU.
• Chase Penner had a goal and an assist and William Nuzzo scored the other Pioneer goal.
• Penner has the most goals so far this season for Tusculum (11) and points (12).
