Tampa, Fla. – The no. 12 ranked Newberry College baseball team (1-3, 0-0 SAC) fell on the road Friday evening to the Spartans of the University of Tampa (4-0, SSC) 8-1.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m., at the UT Baseball field on the campus of the University of Tampa.

Rhett Jolly went 2-3 with two singles on the evening for the Wolves on the evening.
Donovan Ford scored the lone run for the Wolves on the evening.
This is the first time that the Spartans would be held to single digits as they would defeat three previous teams in ten run rule fashion in Houston the previous week.
The Spartans started the game off with three runs in the bottom of the first from a two-run double and a rbi sac fly to make it 3-0.
The Wolves would get on the board in the top of the third when Ford would reach on an error by the Spartan third baseman. With a 2-2 count,
Luke Compton would rip a line drive into the left centerfield gap moving Ford from first to third. Ford would first hesitate to go home but then go as the throw from the left fielder would go wide of the cut off man and Ford would beat the throw home to cut the lead to 3-1.
Two innings later the Spartans would extend the lead to 5-1 with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth.
Then in the bottom of the eighth, the Spartans would add three more runs on the board with a two-run single and a rbi single to make the score 8-1.
