ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week this afternoon, and Jack Travassos was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Travassos, a senior from Burlington, Ontario, caused four turnovers, picked up four ground balls and scored his first goal of the season last week as Newberry picked up wins over Emmanuel (20-2) and Belmont Abbey (18-8).

Against Emmanuel on the road, Travassos caused two turnovers, grabbed a ground ball and scored a goal. In the home-opener versus Belmont Abbey, he caused two more turnovers and picked up a trio of ground balls for the Wolves.

Travassos and Newberry will host Tusculum this Saturday (March 2) in their first SAC game of the season. Faceoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
