NEWBERRY - The Newberry College baseball team (4-10, 1-5 SAC) split their double header with the Eagles of Carson-Newman (7-6, 2-1 SAC) Saturday afternoon in the Silver Diamond baseball complex in Jefferson City, Tenn.

Kade Faircloth went 3-8 on the day with five rbis, two runs scored and a grand slam in game one to give the Wolves a 12-1 lead in the third inning.

Game One.
An 11 run third inning helped The Wolves take a 16-11 high scoring affair in game one of the double header against the Eagles. Faircloth, along with
Donovan Ford and
Bryson Nuckols had three hits in the win for the Wolves.
Ethan LeBron went six innings to earn the win and improve to 2-2 on the season. The Lexington native had five strikeouts.

The Wolves struck first in the top of the first with a rbi single from
Rhett Jolly to make it 1-0. The Eagles would respond with a home run in the bottom half of that inning.

The Wolves would respond with 11 runs in the top of the third inning as Jolly would start the scoring with a bases loaded walk to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead. On the next at-bat,
Hunter French would drive in two runs with a single through the left side of the infield to make it 4-1. To keep the inning going, the Wolves would push three more runs across on three straight hit batters with the bases loaded to make it 7-1. Ford would push across the seventh run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 8-1. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Faircloth would hit a grand slam over the tall fence in left to make it 12-1.

The Eagles would try to get back into the game scoring six unanswered runs from the third to the eighth to make it 12-7.

The Wolves would push four more runs across in the top of the eighth with an rbi groundout from
Chandler Mims, an rbi single from Ford, and two rbi doubles from
Jacob LeBron and Faircloth to make it 16-7.

The Eagles would add four more runs but the Wolves would shut the door, taking game one 16-11.

Game One Stats
- The top four hitters in the Wolves lineup (Donovan Ford, Jacob LeBron, Kade Faircloth, and Rhett Jolly) combined to go 10-17 with 10 rbis, nine runs, two doubles and a home run.
- Donovan Ford stole his eighth base of the year and his 64th of his career putting him three stolen bases away from moving up to fourth all-time in Newberry Baseball history.
- Ethan LeBron would have a season high five strikeouts to earn the win.
- Faircloth's five rbi afternoon is a career high for the Oviedo, Fla., native. His grand slam in the third is his second career long ball as a Wolf.
Game Two.
The Wolves fell in game two in a pitchers dual 2-0 against the Eagles. For the Wolves,
Hunter French went six innings, striking out three Carson-Newman hitters but fell to 0-2 on the season.

Jesse Free went 1-2 with a single in the fourth inning to break up a no-hit bid from the Carson-Newman starter.

- Ford and LeBron both totaled three walks.
- French pitched six innings striking out three Eagles forcing 10 flyouts and five ground outs.
