NEWBERRY – Off to a 3-0 start with a trio of dominant performances, the Newberry College men's lacrosse team plays its home opener tomorrow (Feb. 24) against Belmont Abbey. Faceoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Setzler Field.

Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry (3-0) beat Emmanuel 20-2 on Wednesday afternoon to bring their scoring margin to 59-14 through three games.
•
Jimmy Osorio led the Wolves with four goals against the Lions and added an assist.
•
Shane Halliwell,
Scott Reed and
Baker Westmoreland all scored three goals in the win.
• Reed's 16 goals places him second in the South Atlantic Conference, and his 23 points puts him in third.
•
Zach Thompson, who had a goal and two assists against Emmanuel, has 18 points thus far – fifth in the SAC. He's also second in assists with 13.
Scouting the Crusaders:
• Belmont Abbey (1-2) has lost two in a row including a 9-7 defeat at the hands of SAC member Catawba last Saturday at home. Their lone win was against another SAC member, Mars Hill.
• Xavier Miller and Tre Childers both scored a pair in the loss against the Indians.
• Davis McCulley leads the Crusaders in scoring with six goals through three games and scored once versus Catawba.
• The Crusaders are averaging only 7.67 goals per game, second fewest in the Conference Carolinas, compared to Newberry's 19.67 a game.
• Angus Snow has saved 40 of 68 shots (.588) to keep Belmont Abbey competitive. That save percentage ranks Snow third in the Conference Carolinas.
