NEWBERRY – With a win on Saturday against Mount Olive in North Carolina, the Newberry College men's lacrosse team will stay on the road and look to make it three in a row to start the 2024 campaign tomorrow (Feb. 21) against Emmanuel University. Faceoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Georgia.

Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry (2-0) beat Mount Olive on Saturday 17-6 for their second straight win.
•
Scott Reed scored six goals for the Wolves to reach 200 career points, and also grabbed two ground balls and caused a turnover.
•
Baker Westmoreland added five goals and an assist for Newberry and
Zach Thompson had two goals and four assists.
• Reed (18 points), Thompson (15) and Westmoreland (10) currently lead the Wolves in the category; Reed is fourth in the SAC in points and Thompson is T-6th.
• The Wolves have converted 12 of 13 man-up opportunities through two games for a .923 success rate – second in Division II.
Scouting the Lions:
• Emmanuel (0-4) lost its most recent game against SAC member Lincoln Memorial at home on Saturday, 13-9. They also lost to Coker 7-4 back on Feb. 3 in their season opener on the road.
• Jared Weiss led the Lions with four goals against the Railsplitters. He is second on the team with eight goals through four games.
• Luke Hildebrandt is Emmanuel's scoring leader with 10 goals, including one against LMU.
• The Lions are averaging just 7.50 goals per game on offense thus far, compared to the Wolves' 19.5.
• EU has accrued 26 penalties this season – nearly seven per game. Should the trend continue, the Wolves' efficient man-up offense will look to pounce.
