NEWBERRY – After earning a dominant 22-6 win in the season-opener over Lynn last Saturday, the No. 9 Newberry College men's lacrosse team heads to Mount Olive for a matchup with the Trojans tomorrow (Feb. 17). Faceoff is scheduled for noon.
The Wolves have beaten Mount Olive in back-to-back seasons, winning 18-12 at Setzler Field a season ago. Fans can

Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry (1-0) beat Lynn in a neutral-site matchup in Jacksonville, Fla., last Saturday to start the 2024 campaign.
• The Wolves racked up a program-record 40 points in the game thanks to the aforementioned 22 goals and 18 assists.
•
Scott Reed contributed a program-record 12 of those points via seven goals and five assists.
•
Zach Thompson set a new program record in assists with seven and added a pair of goals for the Wolves.
•
Jimmy Osorio found the back of the net four times and
Baker Westmoreland, three.
Scouting the Trojans:
• Mount Olive (1-1) enters tomorrow's matchup with a win in its most recent game at home versus Catawba last Saturday, 13-10. They lost on the road to Lander in their season-opener, 13-11.
• Chance Urban had a hat-trick against the Indians and one assist.
• A quintet of Trojans had two goals each against Catawba, signaling the depth of their roster.
• That group included Aidan Lalonde who also scored twice against Lander, giving him a team-leading four goals in the early season.
