GREENWOOD, S.C.- The Wolves (6-4, 0-0 SAC) fell to the Bearcats of Lander (7-1, 0-0 PBC) in both games of their double header this afternoon.
Game 1
The Wolves fell to the Bearcats in the first game of the doubleheader 5-1.
The Wolves trailed the Bearcats until the seventh inning where
Bethany Pigg hit a home run to left field to put the Wolves on the board.
The Bearcats score two runs in the first inning, two in the third inning, and one in the fifth inning.
Game 1 Leaders
- Cassidy Phelps went three for three at the plate.
- Bethany Pigg homered into left field.
- Eva Crader pitched three innings while only letting up one hit, one run, with four strikeouts.
Game 2
The Bearcats took the second game in six innings 11-3.
Lander scored five runs in the first inning, five in the third inning, and one in the bottom of the six.
The Wolves tallied three runs in the top of the fifth inning to try and shorten the Bearcat lead.
Carson McCowan hit a sacrifice fly to center field for
Kristin Griffin to score.
Tori Rose singled to left field for
Tomie Christofaro to come across the plate.
Vanessa Wilson hit a single to center field and Rose was able to cross home for their three runs.
Game 2 Leaders
- Tori Rose went two for three at the plate with one RBI.
- Hailey Hill went two for three at the plate.
- Tomie Christofaro went one for one at the plate with one run.
- Lindsey Foster pitched three innings and only gave up three hits, one run, with three strikeouts.
Up Next
The Wolves are on the road again this Friday and Saturday to play in the Columbus State Tournament. Their games on Friday are at noon and 5:00, on Saturday their games are at 10:30 and 1:30.
