The Wolves Split Day One of the Columbus State Tournament

AMERICUS, GA.- The Wolves split their first day of the Columbus State Tournament, they fell to the Canes of Georgia Southwestern 8-0 and dominated against the Skyhawks of Point 18-3.
Game 1
The Wolves fell to the Canes 8-0 in five innings. The Wolves tried to get something going with a base runner on every inning, but the Wolves couldn't find their rhythm. 
Game 1 Leaders Game 2
The Wolves dominated in their second game against the Skyhawks 18-3 in five innings. The Wolves scored nine runs in the fourth inning to jump to an 18-3 lead and take the game.
In the first inning, Maddy Brown singled to shortstop and was able to advance to third then Cassidy Phelps singled to shortstop for Brown to score. Sierra Brogdon singled to center field for Phelps to advance to second. Vanessa Wilson then singled to shortstop for Brogdon to advance to second and Phelps scored.
Mady Staples homered to left field to start the Wolves scoring off in the second inning. Tori Rose then doubled to center field and Phelps singled to right field for Rose to score. Sierra Brogdon doubled to left field for Phelps to score. Vanessa Wilson tripled to right field and Brogdon scored to put the Wolves up 6-0.
The Skyhawks tried to comeback scoring three in the third inning. '
Hailey Hill walked and then was able to advance to second, Kristin Griffin hit a single to left field for Hill to score. Maddy Brown singled to right field for Staples and Griffin to cross the plate to put the Wolves up 9-3.
The Wolves dominated the fourth inning, scoring nine runs. To start it off, Griffin reached first on an error by right field for Erin Wilson to score. Staples hit her second homerun of the game and Griffin scored. Rose doubled to right field and Melanie Carr scored. Phelps reached first on an error by Point's shortstop and Rose scored. Vanessa Wilson also reached on an error by the shortstop and Tomie Christofaro scored. Hailey Hill singled to center field and Yahaira Williams came across the plate. Carson McCowan singled to second base and Katie Hamilton and Vanessa Wilson scored for the Wolves to take the game 18-3.

  • Mady Staples went two for three at the plate with three RBIs and two homeruns.
  • Maddy Brown went two for three at the plate with two RBIs.
  • Sierra Brogdon went three for four at the plate with one RBI.
  • Cassidy Phelps went two for four at the plate with three RBIs.
  • Vanessa Wilson went two for three at the plate with three RBIs.
Up Next
The Wolves will be back in action for day two tomorrow starting at 10:30 against West Florida and 1:30 against Columbus State.
