Women's Lacrosse Falls to Young Harris

NEWBERRY, S.C. - Women's lacrosse drops their home opener against the Mount Lions 12-14.

In the first period, the wolves led the mountain lions 4-2. The first wolf to score on the afternoon was sophomore Ella Todd off an assist from grad. Hanna Bond tying the score 1-1. The wolves then put up two unanswered goals, one from junior Emma Jobs, followed by a goal from senior Trysten Burns. The last goal of the first quarter was with eight seconds remaining from junior Serena Elias.

Off of four shots on goal in second quarter, Burns, Jobs and Todd all claimed their second goal of the game. Todd found the back of the net 49 seconds into the second off an assist from senior Heather Johnston. Jobs found her second off an assist by Burns in the fourth minute, moving the score to 6-4. In the seventh minute. At halftime both teams were tied 7-7.

The third period was all wolves. Elias claimed the first hat trick of the season, scoring back to back goals. The first goal was off an assist from grad. Marissa Plumer 17 seconds into the third followed by a feed from Bond two minutes into the quarter. Ella Todd also pulled in a hat trick seven minutes in the quarter with an unassisted goal. Johnston found her first goal of the game thanks to sophomore Lana Howell, wrapping up the wolves third quarter run with a score of 11-7.

The lone wolves goal in the fourth quarter came from senior Morgan Parsons. Three wolves finished the night with three points, Serena Elias (3G), Ella Todd (3G) and Trysten Burns (2G, 1A). Two wolves finished with two points; Heather Johnston (1G, 1A), Hanna Bond (2A) and Emma Jobs (2G). Marissa Plumer and Lana Howell finished with 1 assist and Morgan Parsons with 1 goal.

The wolves come back home this upcoming Wednesday, Feb. 14 where they on Lander at 4 P.M.
