OVERVIEW: NEWBERRY COLLEGE VS SHORTER UNIVERSITY

SCORE: Newberry Wolves 4, Shorter Hawks 1

RECORDS: Newberry (2-4-1), Shorter (2-8-0)

LOCATION: Smith Road Complex – Newberry, SC

 

RECAP: The Wolves came out firing vs. Shorter University, piling on 20 shots. Newberry scored two goals in each half and held the Hawks to only one goal. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • The Wolves got off to a quick start getting on the board first in the 15' with a goal from Henok Awoke, assisted by Alex Lopez

  • Keeping the fire lit, the Wolves tallied another goal in the 17' from Ethan Orozco, assisted by Tomas Queiros on a corner kick.

  • The Hawks chipped away taking four straight shots and finding the back of the net in the 28', 2-1 Wolves.

  • Getting into the second half, a foul set up a penalty shot for Harry McDonnell who made his way past the keeper to extend the Wolves lead to 3-1.

  • Securing some insurance, the Wolves put another goal on the board in the 72'. Scored by Ferran Macian, from Lopez.

  • The Hawks played hard to try and get back in it, but it wasn't enough for the Wolves defense, securing the 4-1 win.
