NEWBERRY, S.C.- After a tough battle between the Wolves (4-11, 2-5 SAC) and the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne (11-4, 6-1 SAC), the Wolves fell 67-59 for this evening's South Atlantic Conference matchup.
The Wolves had two players in double digits,
Jess Tomkins and
April Rummery-Lamb. Tomkins had a double-double this evening scoring 13 points along with 10 boards. Rummery-Lamb also scored 13 points and contributed eight rebounds and four blocks.
Newberry's bench outshined the Bears with 33 points to their bench's 14. The Wolves also had seven blocks to Lenoir-Rhyne's three.
The Wolves outscored the Bears in the first quarter 15-12. As the Wolves and Bears went back and forth the Wolves finished the first quarter ahead with the help of a hook shot and layup from Tomkins.
In the second quarter, the Wolves would extend their lead to six behind three-point field goals from
Jenna Yanity,
Hannah Nimmo and
Caylin Moment. The Bears would take a 36-31 lead into the half.
 In the third, the Wolves would trail by 11 but battle back to bring it within five with points in the paint coming from Tomkins and Rummery-Lamb.
In the fourth quarter, the Wolves went on a five-point run with .22 remaining forcing a Bears timeout. In the game of runs, the Wolves fell to the Bears 67-59.
