Wolves Drop Hard-Fought Match to Lenoir-Rhyne

NEWBERRY, S.C.- The Newberry College women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University 0-3 on Tuesday (Sept. 12) evening. 
 
The Wolves fought in all three sets keeping the score close throughout the match  (22-25, 18-25, 22-25). At the end of the first set, Taylor Hall had two back-to-back kills to help the Wolves get momentum for a five-point run battling to a 22-24 score at the end of the first set.  

In the third set, freshman middle blocker, Lindsey Green, helped the Wolves gain the lead with two back-to-back kills along with a kill by Hall making the score 9-7 in the start of the third set. The remaining of the third set the Wolves and Bears went point for point making it anyone's set, but the Wolves struggled to come out on top.  

Hall led the Wolves with 11 kills for the match, and Samanatha Shaffer with 9. Freshman Kate Gross led the team with 2 service aces. Sophomore Setter, Annie Dill, led in the match with 26 assists. Sophomore Libero, Kannyn Boyd, led the team with 14 digs, Dill with 11, and Gross with 10.  
 
Up Next 
The Newberry Women's Volleyball team will be back at home Friday (Sept. 15) at 6:00 p.m. (EST) against the Cobras of Coker University.
