Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College women's soccer team closes out the Allen yellow jackets 5-3 in an exciting offensive matchup.Â
The Yellow Jackets opened the first half off hot putting up two goals in the first 13 minutes of the match. A solo goal at 17 minute mark by
Jaidyn Jacobs stopped Allen in their tracks as Newberry looked to close the gap. At the 23 minute mark, with her first assist on the season by sophomore
Cammi Brew,
Jysabella Tolentino would tie the match up.
Allen would eventually regain the lead at the 25 minute mark where the Wolves looked to reorganize themselves as the half went on.
Closing out the half, the wolves refused to let the opposition get a shot off but invertedly, the wolves were relentless with their shots coming from
Becca Lipp,
Cammi Brew, and Jaiydn Jacobs.
The second half was nothing short of a complete shut out. Within the first three minutes of the second half,
Jysabella Tolentino gets her second goal of the game and third goal of the season.
Defensively the team allowed 0 shots against them with an incredible defensive back by
Allyna Gonzalez,
Alexsandra Castellanos,
Arden Kirkpatrick and Emily Castenada.
Jaidyn Jacobs would get the go ahead go for Newberry with an assist by
Arden Kirkpatrick, her first assist on the season, at the 78 minute mark. The dagger to seal the win came from freshman
Alexa Randall with her first goal of the season off a penalty kick at the 86 minute mark.
Newberry aims to stay hot as they travel on Wednesday Sept. 13, for their first SAC game of the season against Catawba at 7 PM.
