Men's Golf Secures Seventh Place Standing on Day One of Spring Bulldog Clash

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Making the trek down to the coast of the state, the Newberry College men's golf team currently sits seventh on the leader board at the Spring Bulldog Clash hosted by Barton College at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club on Monday, February 27.

Senior Alex Pillar (Hawley, Pa.) sits highest on the individual leader board for the Wolves as he turned in rounds on 73 and 69 on his way to a two-over day, sitting him in a tie for 16th. Freshman Javier Borrego Martin (Salamanca, Spain) and senior Patrick Jacobs (Prosperity, S.C.) both sit tied for 24th after a four-over day for each. Borrego Martin shot rounds of 73 and 71 while Jacobs carded rounds of 68 and 76.

Sophomore Tom Hull (Spalding, England) finished the opening day of the tournament just one-shot behind his teammates as he finished five-over. Freshman Herman du Plessis (Johannesburg, Z.A.) rounded out the scoring on the day just two shots back from Hull, sitting in a tie for 47th overall with a seven-over day.

Newberry returns to the course in the morning as they tee-off for round three of the Spring Bulldog Clash at 8:00 a.m.
